Local to NYC as Hybrid work environment: 3 days in office 2 days WFH

 

Role: Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data within their assigned domain by defining and maintaining data standards, resolving data issues, and collaborating with Data Owners and Custodians. They act as a subject matter expert, bridging business and technical teams, while championing data governance and quality practices.

Key activities

  • Act as primary advocate for data governance within their business/corporate unit
  • Ensure adherence to and promote enterprise-wide data standards and common practices
  • Collaborate with Data Owners to define, refine and implement data definitions and controls
  • Investigate data issues to identify root cause and propose actionable remediation options
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between Data Owners and Data Custodians
  • Support colleagues in accessing and understanding data assets in a timely manner
  • Monitor compliance with data governance policies within assigned domains
  • Document and maintain metadata for assigned domains
  • Identify training needs and support education on data governance within assigned domains
  • Contribute to the development of data governance KPIs/KRIs
  • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring data quality on a day-to-day basis
  • Form communities of interested data stakeholders to work with DGWG
  • Initiate/review and execute requests for Data Analytics, Reports, and Extracts

 

Required skills:

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and keep work moving forward.
  • Accountability, ownership, and professionalism in delivery.
  • Must operate independently: given project context, they engage stakeholders, drill into problem statements, and uncover gaps.
  • Data familiarity: able to understand specs, write report/data requirements (not hands-on data work, but able to translate).
  • Handle many small projects concurrently (10–12+).
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized note-taker.
  • Comfortable with multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities.
  • Energetic, proactive, able to push work forward incrementally.

Experience:

  • Can be Sr. or non-Sr. BSA. What's more important is their ability to keep multiple mini-projects moving at the same time.

Plus skills:

  • Prior property & casualty insurance experience.
  • Strong background in data/ability to write detailed data requirements.
  • Someone who can play a data stewardship role as part of their responsibilities
