Description
The Technical Product Manager will own and evolve the Data Center as a Service (DCaaS) platform, providing logical infrastructure services to engineering teams across the group.
The DCaas Platform will simplify the process of requesting and managing hardware, providing tooling to help users monitor performance and proactively identifying and resolving potential issues, including by engaging remote-hands services in the data center. Internally, the platform will provide business users with the data and tooling needed to proactively manage the DCaaS service, supporting the use of digital twin technology and integrations, and driving the maturity for data center builds towards industry standards.
While the underlying delivery includes racks, power, cooling, compute, storage, and networking, the product focus is on abstracting this complexity into clear, consumable services that meet customer needs with transparency and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities of the role include:
- Product Strategy: Contribute to and execute the product strategy for DCaaS, ensuring alignment with company goals and the evolving needs of customer engineering teams.
- Service & Platform Ownership: Own the DCaaS service catalogue, defining and maintaining clear service offerings, capabilities, and consumption models that hide underlying infrastructure complexity from customers.
- Customer Focus: Act as the voice of internal customers, primarily engineering teams across the group, ensuring their requirements, feedback, and pain points are reflected in product decisions.
- Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and engineering teams to shape product requirements, translating customer needs into clear, prioritized specifications and outcomes.
- Roadmap Development: Create and maintain the DCaaS product roadmap, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform evolution, capacity planning, and architectural direction.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive a shared understanding and common purpose across infrastructure, engineering, and operations teams to ensure successful delivery and adoption of DCaaS services.
- Financial Transparency (FinOps): Partner with finance and engineering stakeholders to deliver cost transparency, usage visibility, and informed trade-offs between cost, performance, and scalability.
- Performance Monitoring: Define and track product and service metrics, using data to guide prioritization, improve service quality, and optimize platform outcomes.
- Risk Management: Identify delivery, capacity, and operational risks, working with stakeholders to develop mitigation plans and ensure reliable service evolution.
Who are we looking for?
- Product Management Experience: Proven experience in product management, ideally in infrastructure, platform, or highly technical environments.
- DCaaS / Infrastructure Fluency: Strong system-level understanding of data center concepts, including compute, storage, networking, and capacity management. Deep technical expertise, or experience with digital twin / modern data center development is a bonus but not required.
- Platform & Service Thinking: Experience owning or contributing to service catalogues or internal platforms, with a focus on usability, abstraction, and customer outcomes.
- Financial Acumen: Comfortable working with cost models, usage data, and financial trade-offs, with a strong interest in cost transparency and value optimization.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions in complex technical environments.
- Communication: Outstanding communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate between technical teams and customer needs.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, bringing together cross-functional teams around a shared product vision.
- Customer Focus: Strong customer orientation, with empathy for engineering teams and an understanding of how infrastructure choices affect developer productivity.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with a proactive and pragmatic approach to change.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree is desirable but not required if you can demonstrate relevant experience at the appropriate level.
